The Mario Negri Institute - besides its research work - has a long standing tradition in education and cultural promotion for young scientists in the field of biomedicine and human health. The educational activity is part of the Lombardy Region’s professional training schemes, there are courses for specialized laboratory technicians and for graduates intending to do research. Technicians and scientists receive their training “on site”. They work full-time in research programs of a high scientific standard, using advanced equipment and learning the latest methods, in regular contact with colleagues in different countries.
Since 1999 the Institute has set up a Ph.D. course, in collaboration with the Open University of London, and recently with the Dutch Universities of Groningen and Maastricht. This degree is recognized throughout Europe and in the USA.
Since 2006, the Institute is carrying out, together with the University of Milan, a Master in Clinical Research aimed at creating new professional figures who can operate, according to their specific educational background, in the different areas of clinical research, from the planning of a clinical trial to the analysis of the results.
